Overton Park Shell Join us for the centerpiece of our 100 Years in Memphis celebration—Rhodes Night at the Shell, hosted by the Rhodes College Alumni Association Executive Board and honoring the 10th Anniversary of the Rhodes Black Alumni Chapter.

Enjoy a special performance by Muneer Nasser, joined by the Rhodes Jazz Ensemble and the Rhodes Faculty Players. Sponsored by Truist Bank, this concert is free and open to the public—just bring a blanket or picnic! Or, elevate your evening with $10 VIP access, which includes hors d’oeuvres and two drinks. Food trucks and a drink truck will also be on-site for your convenience.

“The College, Civil Rights Activism, and the Sanitation Workers Strike”
This class will trace the gradual awakening of the campus to Civil Rights in the early 60s, the leading role taken by students in the nationally publicized church kneel-in campaign of 1964, the various ways College faculty, staff, students, and alumni/ae were involved in the Sanitation Workers Strike of 1968, and Rhodes’ role in MLK 50, which commemorated the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination in Memphis.
